Maybe - Fran Vasilić

Fran Vasilić has been one of the breakout artists of the past two years. In 2020, the Krk, Croatia native exploded onto the independent scene with his debut project, Retrovizor, before releasing just two singles in 2021: A Lovesong for Whoever and a cover of Rex Orange County’s Television / So Far So Good. Fran’s entire discography is incredibly impressive: each song is well-written, and his talent speaks for itself. His vocals are resonant and rangy, completely breathtaking.

Today, Vasilić dropped his first single of the new year, Maybe, and it’s clear that he’s on his way to a breakout year. Working with the Brooklyn-based production group, Silk Beats, Fran offers a matured and evolved sound, marked by more dynamic production and complex arrangements. All the while, he maintains the same introspective lyricism and staggering vocals that we’ve seen throughout his catalogue. If there were any doubts that Vasilić is a star, it takes just one listen to Maybe to resolve them.

Throughout Maybe, Fran is vulnerable and honest, as he explores his own internal anxieties. And he complements this songwriting with melodic hooks and a chorus that is just perfect to sing along to: anthemic and catchy, light-hearted yet thoughtful. With the winter blues in full effect for the next six week (thanks a lot, Phil!), Maybe is the perfect song to stream on repeat as you dream of a little Vitamin D.

Maybe is the lead single off of Fran’s upcoming EP, The Very Last Thoughts on Earth, due out in the next few months.
